Most educational products are Function-Focused, designed to "get the job done." That works in environments where students have to do something, but it relies entirely on intrinsic motivation. At Linus, we use Human-Focused Design, which treats students holistically and recognizes that most of us need a little extrinsic motivation to build test prep into a daily habit.

Gamified Learning

Gamified Learning

The gaming industry was the first to master Human-Focused Design. Games have no other purpose than to entertain players, so the industry has had to spend decades learning how to master motivation and engagement. At Linus, we are leveraging these learnings to drive positive student outcomes.

Associative Learning

At Linus, we weave SAT concepts into engaging narratives with colorful recurring characters, helping students form strong associations with core concepts, recognize patterns more quickly and retain information longer. Studies have shown that associative learning techniques can boost memory retention by 25%.

Social Learning

Students learn more effectively when surrounded by their peers and through a shared experience. At Linus, we use proven social techniques from gaming - collaboration, casual competition and social pressure - to drive student motivation and engagement. The daily habit of test prep is much easier to maintain with a little help from friends.
